The reconstructed avenue of sphynxes between Luxor and Karnak temples

We just had a fabulous week in Luxor in Egypt, where we spent the mornings exploring, usually with a guide, and then the afternoons relaxing.

The photograph shows the avenue of sphynxes that originally linked Luxor temple with Karnak temple. This avenue is being restoredand should be completed in 2013. It;s interesting that the only power-tool being used is a bulldozer: everything else is manual.

It might be worth a return trip, especially if the ancient procession along the avenue is re-inacted.

It was photographed in RAW format and then opened twice in Photoshop. One copy was tweaked for the snowscape and the other for the sky. Then they were merged.

I’d tried Waterstones and Smiths in the big town of Swindon with no sucess.

So Amazon excelled again, underpromising delivery in 5-7 days and actually delivering within 2 days, and at a better price.
